  • 4 cups all-purpose flour or whole wheat for added nutrition

  • 1 cup warm milk dairy-free option: almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar can substitute with honey

For the Filling
  • 1 cup grated carrots or mix with zucchini
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs thyme or dill
  • 2 tablespoons butter or use olive oil for a plant-based option
For the Topping
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds or poppy seeds
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped for garnish

Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add warm milk and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Filling Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine grated carrots and chopped herbs. Mix in melted butter and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
Roll Shaping
  1. Once dough has risen, punch it down and divide into two pieces. Roll one piece into a rectangle, spread half of the filling, cut into 12 squares, then stack in a greased baking pan.
Second Rise
  1. Repeat the process with the second piece of dough and filling. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Baking
  1. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Garnishing and Serving
  1. Pull apart the rolls and garnish with parsley. Serve on a platter for guests to enjoy.
