  • 2 cups Chili Store-bought or homemade.
  • 32 ounces Tater Tots Can swap with frozen Hash Browns if preferred.
For the Cheese
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack can be used.
For Serving (Optional)
  • 1 cup Sour Cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt for a healthier choice.
  • 2 tablespoons Green Onions Diced tomatoes or avocado can also be used.

Equipment

  • Crockpot

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by slicing the beef franks into bite-sized rounds, ensuring they cook evenly throughout the dish. Grease the crockpot with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced hot dogs with your chosen chili. Gently stir the mixture, ensuring the hot dogs are evenly coated.
  3. Layer half of the tater tots into the greased crockpot, then spoon half of the chili-hot dog mixture over the tater tots, and sprinkle half of the sharp cheddar cheese on top. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  4. Place the lid on your crockpot and set it to low heat. Cook for 3.5 hours, or up to 4 hours for more tenderness.
  5. Check if the casserole is bubbly and the cheese has melted. For a crispy topping, uncover the crockpot during the last 20-30 minutes.
  6. Scoop portions onto plates or into toasted buns. Top with sour cream and sliced green onions for added freshness.
