Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup of fresh water to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Add 4-5 fresh sage leaves and steep for about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in 1 cup of fresh or frozen blackberries and return the mixture to a simmer for 2-3 minutes. Mash the blackberries to release their juices.
  3. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve into a heatproof container. Mix in 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and the juice of half a lemon.
  4. Add 1 cup of cold water to the strained tea. Allow it to cool for about 15 minutes, then refrigerate until completely cold.
  5. Fill tall glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled tea over the ice.
  6. Garnish each glass with additional blackberries, a sprig of sage, or a slice of lemon before serving.
