  • 7 cups Powdered Sugar

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Beat together cream cheese and butter until smooth, then add sugar and mix until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Alternately add dry mixture and milk to the creamed mixture, fold in orange juice and oil.
  6. Stir in orange zest and orange extract, and optional coloring gel.
  7. Pour batter into pans and bake for about 28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. For frosting, beat unsalted butter and cream cheese, add powdered sugar and orange extract until smooth.
  10. Assemble the cake by layering it with frosting in between, and frost the top and sides.
