Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven or air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Gather your ingredients as the appliance heats.
  2. Spread frozen French fries in a single layer on a baking sheet or air fryer basket. Cook according to package instructions for 20-25 minutes.
  3. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour and cook for about 2 minutes until bubbling and golden.
  4. Gradually whisk in 1 cup of milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Add salt, ground pepper, 2 tablespoons of ranch seasoning powder, and ½ teaspoon of cayenne powder. Stir well and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in 1 cup of shredded white cheddar cheese until melted, about 2-3 minutes.
