Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grind culinary lavender and Earl Grey tea. Set aside half of the ground lavender for frosting.
  2. In a large bowl, cream softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Incorporate a room temperature egg and vanilla bean paste, mixing on medium speed until well combined.
  4. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground tea. Gradually add to wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Scoop dough and roll in lavender sugar, then place on a baking sheet, flattening slightly. Space cookies apart.
  6. Bake for 9-10 minutes until lightly golden. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.
  7. Beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy, then add powdered sugar and reserved lavender. Mix until smooth.
  8. Frost cooled cookies with lavender frosting and garnish with a sprinkle of lavender.
