Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Stuffed Italian Meatloaf
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or oil.
- Sauté diced onion and minced garlic in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes until softened.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, basil, cool onion and garlic, eggs, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
- On parchment paper, spoon the meat mixture and shape it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
- Spread mozzarella cheese over the surface of the meat mixture, leaving a space around the edges.
- Roll the meat mixture tightly using the parchment paper, sealing in the mozzarella and any optional fillings.
- Transfer the rolled meatloaf to the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
- Pour marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
