Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Stuffed Italian Meatloaf
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or oil.
  2. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, basil, cool onion and garlic, eggs, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  4. On parchment paper, spoon the meat mixture and shape it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick.
  5. Spread mozzarella cheese over the surface of the meat mixture, leaving a space around the edges.
  6. Roll the meat mixture tightly using the parchment paper, sealing in the mozzarella and any optional fillings.
  7. Transfer the rolled meatloaf to the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  8. Pour marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  10. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
